physics defying brook

so... right after i read this thread,
I gen a world with a 2x2 that's 3 parts brook source and one part brook. on top of that, it's on the edge.
Intrigued, i embarked there. and what do i see?
multiple river sources extending out into mid-air. I shit you not. Mid-air.
no floor wall underneatharound them, unlike the embark mentioned above.

It's in the northeastern tropic shrublands. wilderness, no tigermen, but there's still elephants.
access to all 4 civs,
saw a bit of iron
and bituminous coal.
almost flat except for the valley to the west.nvm, it takes up almost one-fourth of the 2x2.
