Is there a reason to remove mud tiles?

Do mud tiles generate unhappy thoughts, or are there other negative effects, that make sense of removing mud?

Random trees can grow on them once you uncover the caverns this can block dwarven pathing or fluid movement.

Ok, and what about mud tiles covered with stockpile area? Trees won't grow there, will they?

Stockpiles and paved roads will block tree growth. The only way to remove mud is to channel the floor away or construct something on it, like another floor.

Actually, you can also remove mud by placing a building on it (cabinets, workshops, etc).
