So, err, what does the petvalue affect?  It doesn't seem to say on the wiki's pet page.  Are dwarves happier with more valuable pets, or is it to do with how much you can sell them for?

If you go up to someone and beat the hell out of them with thread, you not only defeat them, you shame them and their entire family for generations to come (providing that there are any survivors).
Various mouths were involved, and a soda can and a penny I think.

You get more money from animals with high petvalues.
But it is odd for werewolves to have a petvalue, if they can't be made into pets (without mods)

They're not really werewolves if they never turn back into people/dwarves, are they? They're wolfmen. And if they're not wolfmen, they're just wolves, right?

I gots plenty of wolves.

Werewolves are fun.

Whilst as pointed out they'd struggle to handle armored goblins they are really really good at destroying unarmored entities.

They are also fast as stink.

Reason they cant be trained in vanilla is that they are 'fanciful' creatures, unicorns fall into the same catagory

Werewolves are no match for any trained and equipped unit, but they seem to be proffessionnals at unarmed and unarmored killing. As far as I know, one werewolf can deal with an common dwarf, or even a powerful miner/woodcutter, faster than any goblin I have ever seen. They also seems to always attack in the same way (there are twelves bodies, animals and dwarves, out of my fortress and they all have "His/her upper body is gone".)

I think that the problem that the werewolves have with soldiers is not their weapon, but the armor. I guess they only fight with the kicker/biter/wrestler ability and still outrange the dps of most normal fighters, but not against any real kind of defense. My Iron armored milita of three dwarves as killed, for now, six werewolves without any problems.

To be short: You can't use a werewolf, or even a group of werewolves, in war. Today I will try to break the first cavern layer and see if they can fight the "things" of the underground.
