Crash Bug: Unit File Corrupted/Missing
« on: September 23, 2006, 06:05:00 am »

Hi.  My game is currently stuck.  I've got a save that is reliably ~5-6 steps from the "Unit File Corrupted/Missing" error that crashes the game.  If I could please have some pointers as to what jobs to cancel or what I might need to do to carry on, I would be grateful.  I'm only in year four so I don't want to abandon this fortress.

Hope I get some helpful ideas.

P.S. I'm running v0.21.104.21b

More info:  My error appears to be when "A human caravan from Pesor ¥ed has arrived." occurs.

Basically this means that the one of the diplomats or traders associated to the caravan that it would like to reuse is in a file that is either not there or became corrupted somehow.  This means that the world is dead, basically.  There's nothing you can do but revert.  This is either due to a straight bug that just happened at some point to kill it, or  handling save folders in ways not described in the release_notes.txt.

Thanks Toady.  I'll stop banging my bloody head against the wall.  I emailed you the save files as a reference if it matters.

I didn't mess with any of my save files, but I know how this stuff goes.

Again, thanks for the response.  Once more back into the fray.
