Does a mod to reduce prepared food value exist?
« on: November 17, 2010, 08:45:34 pm »

I was getting tired of regulating my agriculture industry to prevent my fortress net worth from exploding and incurring the wrath of goblins before I have armor. Is there a way to reduce the value of prepared food so that it's at least less value-creating than the rest of the industries combined? It's inflating the value of my fort.

I tried searching for it for close to an hour, because I figured what I wanted was a pretty popular desire. But I couldn't find a mod. Is it not possible to mod the value of prepared food? Am I the only one who wants it lower? BESTOW ME WISDOM, ARMOK!

Kitchen before armour? Do you have an aquifer or something? Metalsmiths should be your 6th workshop: after Carpentry, Mechanic, Mason, Wood Burner, and Smelter.

And, yes there is. Choose "Prepare Easy Meal", it gives your cook more XP and produces cheaper food.

I would recommend modding plants themselves and giving them a value of either 1 or 0.  Make sure you mod their products, like sugar and flour, too.
