I'm not sure what happened with this embark, but for some reason, barrels of prepared meals are not available to trade when moving goods to the depot.  In previous embarks, I've seen them in the tools section.  But even making a prepared meals stockpile adjacent the depot, no prepared meals barrels are available at all even when sorting trade goods by distance.  Has anyone seen this before?  I tried rebooting my PC and re-launching DF to no avail.

Prepared meals are indeed an overly effective way to buy out caravans, so I suppose this is good for me as it will force me to pursue other industries...

I am able to select roasts that are not contained in barrels, so the issue seems to be related to the barrel storage of the prepared meals.

Sounds like you might have a mandate forbidding barrels to be traded.

I recently noticed an inability to sell biscuits to a Human Caravan.  I even double-checked that I had biscuits in my prepared-meal stockpile!  The biscuits were in a barrel.  Maybe this is related?

Well that SOB did indeed prohibit the export of barrels.  The likelihood of an unfortunate accident involving the baroness of Crystalgorged just shot up significantly...  For now, all that kaolinite will be put to use making large porcelain pots for food storage.
