The Clockwork Kingdom (Clockpunk Mod)
« on: October 16, 2010, 04:13:04 pm »

Greetings, oh wanderer! I see by your eyes you're a clever one, you'd love to know about all my fantastic creations, wouldn't you? Don't be shy, there, I shan't bite you, though I'm afraid I can't say as much on behalf of my inventions. Come, now, have a look around. No, don't touch tha-

*Bang*

All right, I ought to have warned you about my more experimental stuff. Don't worry, I can replace that hand.

So, this is my Clockpunk mod. I don't think there's enough here to package up and make downloadable yet, so I shall just show you what raws I've added.

I have a few questions. First of all, how do you (if you can) have a building's colours decided by one of it's building materials?
Secondly, should I change the reactions to allow bullets and pistols be made of any material, or stick to ones befitting a clockpunk setting?
Lastly, what else do you think I should put in the Clockwork Kingdom?

Replace swords with wrenches, for starters.

Or hammers. I suppose some kind of clockwork chainsaw would replace the sword

Would it be possible to have some sort of "steam generator"?  My idea is a building that generates steam (dwarf pleasuring mist) if it has ten power.  Mind be a bit weird to make, but it could be cool.

Also a furnace that generates a ton of power if you throw coal in it would be nice.  Though I don't know how you could make it to continually produce power..  I don't know, just some alternative ways to create and use energy in a steam punk way.

The first might be possible if you added a new material that had a low vaporization point so that at dwarven room temperature it became gas, then had a reaction to pump that out over time. I don't know if any material other than water can induce happiness though.

edit: you'd need a dwarf operating it continuously.

Ah, that's unfortunate.  But still, if it can be automatically pumped out, that's pretty cool.  Steam furnaces would be pretty cool, if you can use gas as a reagent for something.  Though that may be too steampunk and not clockwork enough.

I am planning to move onto other punks once I feel satisfied with clockpunk, but why not try the steampunk stuff yourself?

A race of rogue clank would be cool.

Also, more 19th century clothing (Shirt, bow tie...), transport clank as mule, maybe some crafts for flavour?

Would it be possible to make that machine work by having power go to it (or make power?) or is that not possible to mod yet?

Alternatively just have all reactions that make the new items add "steam" to the end reaction.

Sweet mod idea. I am  in favor of Dwarven Steampunk, as long as its fairly low key.
