Help i found an iron shortsword, steel shortswor and silver shortsword. Also can't pick between using steel shield or iron shield help

Steel.

Historically, Iron was used to replace bronze, which due to some issues became difficult to find. Steel replaced iron.

Silver has always been a fairly soft metal. A good reason to keep silver around might be due to the fact it supposedly has magical properties against things like Werewolves. Not sure if that is currently in though.

For sharp weapons (like swords, or spears, or axes etc)

Bone/Wood<Copper<Iron<Bronze<Steel<Adamantine

For blunt weapons, Silver is king.
