Okay, so I've been playing for a good 4 or so months now. However, I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to make my military attack something.

For example: When a dwarf of mine goes insane and starts killing people, how do I make my military attack?

I just haven't figured it out yet. Thanks.

I know, this is a total noob question lol.

The most basic way is to hit s, then a, then k, then cursor over the thing you want attacked.  If you look at the squad screen, each squad is assigned a letter, so if you want a different squad to attack it, replace the "a" with the squad letter.  To have more than one squad attack, hold down shift as you hit each letter.  To select creatures to attack by defining a rectangle, hit r after you hit k, and for a list of creatures to attack, hit l after you hit k.

[Killing Time]

use the move command: squad menu (s) then the letter of the squad (probably a) then move (m) and select a spot near the thing you want killed.
there's a kill command but it seems to be bugged since whenever I use it my soldiers just stand there with their thumbs up their asses. Troops should attack insane dwarves on sight though.
