best way to re-injure dwarves
« on: November 03, 2010, 09:29:29 am »

What is the best way to re-injure dwarves who are in hospital beds. One of them can't walk properly. should I build a danger room next to the hospital.

Er...why?

If he has nerve damage you can mod the game so nerves heal slowly.

they are not getting treatment for some reason. I think that I need to re-injure them so that the Head Doc takes a good look.

Cave-ins.

You could try caving in the tile that their bed is on.
1z is unlikely to injure them again, at least it didn't when I tried it ages ago.

Dropping the ceiling on their head may be an instakill, I'm not sure.

I would try dropping them 2 levels.  In the previous version I did a lot of dropping enemies, and 2 levels was usually harmless.  You might need to drop them a few times to get an injury.

A falling ceiling means insta-kill. You could try dropping a ceiling tile *next* to him so the resulting dust blows him out of bed. I think that that also injures him in a non-lethal way.

I believe he didn't mean dropping the ceiling onto the dwarf but instead dropping the dwarf with the tile he's on.

Yeah, I meant both types on different lines.
Dropping the tile the injured dwarf is on >2z seems the best bet.

temporary flooding? nope.
magma? nope.
upright weapon? nope.
CONSTRUCTED ceiling falling next to them? yep. it's safer because it deconstructs before falling, leading to falling stone instead of hard floor. also generates shittons of smoke.

deconstructing bed might help...
