How do you take a screenshot?
« on: November 04, 2010, 07:52:58 pm »

How do you take a screenshot in Dwarf Fortress? I want to take pictures of my horribly mutilated victims so that i can look at them and reflect on how hilarious it was when i killed that person. (I also want to be able to post some of them on the forums, but that's not as important.)

In full screen mode (F11), press ALT+PRINT SCREEN. Go to paint, paste, save, imageshack does the rest.

At least, thats how I take my screenshots.

Alt+Print Screen seems to work somewhat, but when i paste it into paint/GIMP/whatever it just shows up as a black box. how can i fix this?

Are you using TrueType?  That seems to screw up print screen for whatever reason.

You don't have to be in fullscreen mode to use printscreen FYI.

regardless, the slime shooter will be completed, come hell or high water, which are both entirely plausible setbacks at this point.

And, at least for me anyway, you don't need to use ALT+printscreen, just printscreen

I heard your like sieges so I put a Goblin fortress in your fortress so you could siege while besieged.

Printscreen captures the whole screen, alt+printscreen captures just the active window.
