so i found it would be time to set up military ...
this time i skipped the lengthy let em mine to legendary and let em pump to legendary basic training and set up a trainroom with a masterfull crafted training spear as pincer...

all soldiers clad in steel (most of the pieces masterworks due to a lucky immigrant armorer) ... double layered even with leather supplements

well .. lever turned on ..and almost instantly 4 of the 5 soldiers each get their toes fractured and teeth bashed in ... just within 10 sec and all of them (number 5 was still running around collecting equipment) .. all 4 now resting at the hospital  with infection in their toes ..(even soap and a decent doc could not help) .. number 5 is now turning empty rounds in the gym(pumproom) or standing alone and sobbing in the now nonfunctional danger-room

so anyone notice if the quality ofthe trap has such an effect on the recruits (never had that before) or did i just happen to find a  bad coincidence in matter dwarfen stupidity and bad luck?

I've found that equipping soldiers with robes tends to help alleviate this problem.

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

Fingers, toes and everything in and around the mouth is allways unprotected even if they wear gauntlets, boots and helmets I hope that gets fixed soon but yeah robes help a bit.

I've never had this problem. What are you using? A single spear in each trap?

Dwarf 1: This is the worst part... The calm before the battle.
Dwarf 2: And then the battle is not so bad?
Dwarf 1: Oh...right. I forgot about the battle.

That shouldn't matter
and yeah, I would put a robe as a part of the uniform, cause it then covers everything
Yes, dwarven boots are more like sandals (go figure)
Also, I'm, not sure but I think MAYBE shoes cover it as well, cause I never have trouble setting up a danger room initially, but after all my dwarves clothes rot off, then I tend to have problems with recruits

strange enough it happened the very first time in a long row of games .. and for many games i now issue a replacement uniform that incorporates steel layer  leather layer and and cloth stuff like socks .. but well no robes normally .. maybe thats the point at least at the beginning

the specific spear was a wooden training one btw

another question . robes you refer to any clotheclothing i guess? or is anything covering the upper lower body meant? like cloak vest dresses etc?

If you cannot get robes, dresses work as well.
