Lake Failure
« on: May 28, 2008, 07:59:00 pm »

I found a small enough lake that I could select the whole thing for my fort, so I figured why not? and did.

Unfortunately, the lake is a failure. One side is several z-levels lower then the other, and so the water is draining out the side and down a few z-levels flooding half the map.

I have a picture here to give a better idea of what I mean, if for some reason you would like a save I have one of just a few frames after arrival that I can upload to the dwarf fortress file depot.

That seems awesome.  Does the same thing work with volcanoes?

t''s so sad.  It''s as if De Beers as invaded Dwarf Fortress.  I nearly cried when I saw how valued and rare diamonds were in Dwarf Fortress.

Volcanoes are a single local tile.

It is supposed to equalize the elevations of all lake squares during world generation, but I guess there's a bug with that routine.  I'd need a seed/location to fix this, as I haven't seen it before and don't know how to reproduce it.

Created in DF v0.27.176.38c.
[WORLD_GEN]
   [TITLE:STANDARD]
   [SEED:3912516079]
   [DIM:257:257]

location is here.

I strongly suspect the problem has something to do with the major river that's connected to the lake (sort of) lowering the elevation.

I'm having trouble registering for the DFFD so I didn't upload a save, if you do need one I can try to register again or email it to you (23mb) but hopefully the seed and location will be enough.

If the soil types and so on are unmodded, the seed should be fine.

edit:  I've also got it reproducing on another lake, so it doesn't matter.  I guess this is a common problem now.
