This is why I invest in Cheerleaders.  No really.  (No really.)  During a game against Orks, we had that Roll 6 + Fanfactor pitch invasion - the entire Orc team was knocked out.  It looked like a peasant revolt on the field.  Pity I had kickoff, so half of them stood back up.

Didn't know about Blitz mode making inducements cheaper, I should do that.  The $100,000 per inducement did strike me as so expensive that the team-value difference would completely overpower it anyway.

It doesn't make them cheaper, there are just more.  There's also a lame training minigame (that you can cheat on by hitting escape and trying again).  Blitz mode adds stuff like scrolls, doping, bribing enemy players, etc.  Also, you have to sign a contract with a sponsor at the beginning of the season who gives you some extra funds (With more available the better performance you promise, although presumably there's some kind of penalty if you don't live up to expectations)

Wood Elves are for pansies, and I just found out tentacles means dodge rolls are strength-based instead of dex based.  Hopy shit, those elves are screeeeewed

EDIT: No wait,  tentacles means an opponent must test strength to move out of your tackle zone, or something like that.

How does the inducement thing work, exactly? I'm getting pretty sick of my team having 10,000 gold for inducements while my enemy, the same opposing team I crushed in the last match ferchristsakes, has over 380,000. What's with that?

Inducements are for evening out unbalanced teams.  They have extra gold because you crushed them and now their team is worth less.

Specifically, every $10,000 more your team is worth than the enemy team, they get $10,000 for inducements.  Gain skills on your players?  That'll boost your value.  Buy rerolls?  That'll do it too.

Sound unfair?  Sure it is...but keep in mind.  Everything you get with inducements costs more than buying it normally (so, if you could normally hire a linesman for $60000, inducing one for the game might be $90000, plus you lose any SPPs he gets).

...If you find that you ALWAYS have people sitting on the bench at the end of the game, and one or two of them has a mangled neck or something...well, long-term injuries don't reduce player value.  So, just drop them from your team.  That's some inducement cash your opponents won't have.

If you're a hefty team and the opponent needs to beat you to win a tourney, they might chuck some of their actual bank account at the match, too.  Oh well.  And remember!  They may be able to hire a star player for the game...but all it takes is a big guy with Frenzy and Mighty Blow and you have a pretty decent chance of taking him out on the first drive.  Sadly, even if you kill Star Players they will be re-hirable in later games.

Son of a bitch, Guuth Guuth is really damn lucky he's only one SPP away from leveling up.  Twice in a row, when the game was on the line, he butterfingered the ball.  It was 1-1 and he did it on turns 15 and 16, about four squares away from the end zone.  Everybody else did an exemplary job of setting up for his touchdown, but he blew it, and our team's perfect record is spoiled.  If it weren't for how close he is to leveling his ass would be sold.

Screw it, I dropped Guuth Guuth and Gath, Chosen of Khorne, they just weren't pulling their own weight.

I almost wanted to kill my Minotaur last night. He smacked the dark elf ball carrier and ended up grabbing the ball himself. Ok, that's cool. It was on their side of the pitch, too, and half their team was knocked out. This is going to be an easy touchdown!

Nope...stupid thing just sat there for five turns doing nothing! He was within 1 turn of walking distance to the goal line, well protected by my guys, and just never figured out he should move. I got the 'wild animal' result every time...

Then it was half time and some bad luck on my part and great luck on theirs let them win the game during the second half. *SIGH*

I guess it's a good lesson to never intentionally let the minotaur get the ball.

Now that is an excellent idea. Hopefully he'll level up after the next match so I can do that.

Overall I'm kind of enjoying chaos. They kind of suck at first, but as I'm able to actually give people abilities they're starting to shape up ok.

Well, the Legendary Edition is set to release in a few days. I'm debating getting it. With the discount for owning the previous edition it's about $30. I'd like to try out the new teams and get a little more variety into everything, but I'm also not sure that it's worth paying for the upgrade.

What do you guys think?

I don't have either of the games, so I'm thinking of waiting for the Steam Christmas sales to get this one.

There is an ongoing Let's Play on Something Awful that got me interested in the game and I must say it seems quite fascinating, so I'm not sure if I can hold off that long.
