Yet his code-fu is weak.

Oh my fucking God, when did he make this website, 1996?  I was honestly half expecting the linkcity adbar thing on the right side of the page.

You know what?  I actually salute him for it.  I mean, it takes some serious balls to make a "campaign" website with spinning gifs and a hits-counter in this day and age.

If I both lived in New York and was of voting age, this man would have my vote in a day.

The fact this man can run for mayor of New York is proof that the republican spirit of 1800 is alive and well.

If not a little wrinkly and telling us stories about how tough it was back in the day, while making us wince at the occasional blatant racism.

What racism? They were abolitionists.

There wasn't a Republican party (with its abolitionist core) until the middle of the 19th century, and most abolitionists were still racists, they just opposed the institution of slavery as inhumane/sacrilegious.

When did I say Republican? I said republican. There's a distinction there.

You brought up abolitionists, which were the basis of the Republican party but weren't found in great concentration prior to that.

How could abolitionists simply be spirited up to form the core of a political party that I wasn't even talking about if they didn't exist in any great concentration prior to joining that political party I wasn't even talking about?

"The republican spirit of 1800" has a lot more to do with France than the current American party structure.
