Mandate for adamantine items
« on: January 19, 2008, 10:38:00 pm »

My mayor has a mandate for adamantine items.  Since adamantine is extremely rare, it should never be used for a mandate.

Some dwarves just like adamanine. I don't know. I assume that means that they've had some experience with the stuff, before. Does that mean that some of my nobles are "from the underworld"? It would explain a lot....

I don't think mandates are based on availability of stuff, just on likes of the noble. I had all kinds of impossible mandates...which I ignored without any trouble. Sure, the noble might get some unhappy thoughts, but hey, just give him a fine drink and he will quickly forget about it. Or kill him.
I think it fits the nobles to demand impossible things. Shows how little they know about the real world.

Yeah, I have some demanding Nickle and Billon items despite lacking both--only iron, platinum, and silver on my map so far.

The problem I have with impossible mandates is not the unhappy thought, but the hammerings/beatings/jail time that uninvolved dwarves must put up with.

if you see the profile of the noble, you'll see that he likes adamantine...
i think the only thing that affects mandates are the likes of the noble... if a noble likes iron and axes, he will mostly order to make or forbid export of iron items, axes or iron axes.
if you see the baron with "likes adamantine", show him the full of spikes pit way.
