My stupid TV remote has vanished again and I'm starting to wonder if this time it wasn't stolen by one of my little brother's slovenly friends as some sort of idiotic prank.  I have this universal remote lying around but the instructions don't seem to have anything to  do with the actual function.

The first step for setting up the product is to hold the setup button until the red indicator stays on.  I initially pressed the on/off button on the controller before reading the instructions and now the red indicator is permanently on and nothing I do seems to have any effect short of removing the batteries.  But it turns back on again immediately after I put them back in.  Can anyone help me with this?
