Stairway into a bridge
« on: January 14, 2008, 11:39:00 pm »

While channeling out a moat for my bridge one of my miners git stuck so I had him build a stairway down. I then built the bridge figuring that that bridge surface would cover up the stair way. It didn't, several dwarves and animals seem to use the stairway rather than going over the bridge.

Does the bridge cover all eight grids adjacent to the stairway?  If not, the dwarves may be able to slip out from under it.  (this is just a guess, mind; you might want to post a picture)

yes it does, it looked something like so:
code:

top        next level down
#....          #####
#====          #....
#=~>=          #..X.
#=~~=          #....
#====          ###>#
#....          #####

Bridges which *overlap* stairs block the stairwell, preventing it from being used.
