I got the barony offer, and I chose to elect somebody, but then I exited it out with escape, because I didn't want to pick somebody without getting good preferences.

I quickly realized my mistake once I figured out who I wanted.

Will I ever get the offer again, or did I miss out?

(I really hope it isn't the second one, I have been playing for something like 4 years now, and due to various bugs and version changes, this is the first time I have gotten the offer, and now I might have ruined it?!)

You can decline the offer and if you keep your mayor busy he will offer each time.

i don't understand how this would help.  but okay.

They are referring to the workaround for the not-getting-offered-a-barony bug.  The advice, therefore, is just to keep meeting the conditions to be offered a barony and you should be offered it again.

idea.  After the caravan arrives, do trading immediately, then sieze a single low value item.  The merchants will leave in a huff immediately, but there won't be repercussions as they'll be returning with a hefty profit anyway.  Then you won't have to keep your mayor drafted for as long.

You can't sieze from the dwarven caravan.
