Ok, so I redirected a river. And underground, where the river once was, you're unable to build stuff on it. Pretty straight forward. Save file is availible if you need it.

Yeah, I think you can't build on those kind of muddy tiles directly. Have you tried constructing a floor over them first?

You have to mine out the " river " tiles. Designate them for mining.. they act like walls.
