Ascended Bug: Tigermen Citizens
« on: October 13, 2010, 11:03:48 pm »

I propose that Tigermen get adopted into dwarven civilization, in honor of the bug that causes them to be tame-able. They would act like normal citizens but have different attributes like enjoying being outside. Maybe like 1/500 migrants is a Tigerman.

A possible balancing drawback would be that they are obligate carnivores and require meat in their diet, so if you've got nothing but +Plump Helmet Roast [17]+ they will starve.

While it's kind of cool DF has it's own ...culture of sorts growing from all sorts of bugs and imbalances (Carp, Elephants, Cannibal Elves etc)... have any others really been intentionally integrated afterward? At least I don't think Elephants are unstoppable killing machines anymore, and carp are just a nuisance.

I think cannibal elves have always been canon, actually, given that they figure in ThreeToe's stories.

I'm half tempted to mod thous back in. I've only played the game since 0.31.12 and have to say that the only time I've encountered wildlife that was a problem was in Haunted areas.  If anything the current set of bugs seem to have left the game overly tame (I'm yet to expirence a siege).
