Buckets glore - and nobody is using them?
« on: October 23, 2010, 03:17:15 pm »

There are gazillions of stone crafts in the stock piles, each stupid ring eating up a time. And there are buckets. more than enough buckets in the furniture stockpile. And nobody is using them. No, there is nothing forbidden or to be dumped, neither buckets nor the trinkets.
Is there a simple way to unstupid dwarfs?  ;D

i think you are looking for bins........it's bins not buckets that allow you to stack your goods up and save them using all the stockpile tiles

Trade fodder for everybody but the elves?

This is my recommendation.

I suppose it depends on how your elves treat you and vice-versa. Mine have so far been pretty good about giving me nifty stuff. (and my dorfs tend to overplant and end up inundated in quarry bushes, so the extra cloth for bags isn't a bad thing!)

Hospitals are pretty wonky in the current version - I just watched several years worth of injury treatment at my finely-appointed hospital (500k cloth and thread each, 20 buckets, 30 splints all in containers inside the hospital, and even a food stockpile inside the hospital) and very nearly every time a doctor used any supply treating a patient, he ignored the stuff in containers in the hospital but instead went to the main stockpile to get whatever.  I did see one guy get a bandage out of a hospital chest one time (literally one time).

oops - point was, nobody actually pulled buckets from the hospital when giving a patient water, ever

You could make a room with 100 wells in it and declare it a miniproject in architecture. Of course, you should have plenty of booze so those wells are only admired, never actually used.

Congrats, Psieye. This is the first time I've seen a derailed thread get put back on the rails.
