Channeling a tile with a rock already on it

If I channel a tile with a rock on it, then the tile beneath that and so on, do the rocks stack up, or are the additional rocks lost forever? Trying to mine out a big chunk of mountain, and don't want to lose any of the stone. I'd just test it myself but all my miners are low level so they're likely to lose stuff anyway.

They stack up.  Channeling is, therefore, just about the more efficient mining you can do.
