Question about sieges
« on: October 07, 2010, 07:46:18 pm »

A bunch of gobbos decided that a seige would be awesome and their troll buddies where all "Damn yo we gots to get in on dis." So I let them get near by then  set the atom smasher to auto, as luck would have it a troll landed on an unwalled sqaure of land right next to it so the only possible way into my fortress was destroyed and the caravan guards ran out of ammo. Will they eventually get bored or do I have to give my militia crossbows (the easy lame way) or find some kind of highly convoluted crazy and extremely dangerous to everyones health way to drop them into a deadly deadly magma flow.

How the hell did you get a table stuck in a guy?
Where did you even GET the table?

They'll get bored eventually.

Possibly make a bunch of cage traps and open up a hallway full of them to the seige if you want to speed things up.

Cage traps are magic.

Did I forget to mention the only way to access the fortress has been destroyed? No one can get in or out or else my spinny killy death traps would have dispatched them long ago.

Is there anything preventing you from, say, digging a secondary entrance full of traps underneath them and up to the surface to let them in through?  It's hard to say without looking at the fortress, I guess.

anything that involves your dwarves adding to their kill list is not lame.

While adding magma to anything will make it dwarfy, adding the word "magma" to your post does not necessarily make it funny.

I could do that but it lacks inherit firey dwarf death, and wheres the fun in shooting down gobbos that can't fight back.
