Melting ice without magma?

I've got a really important dwarf dying in the hospital in the middle of winter!  True they may never recover anyway but....

IDK how to melt it but you can try digging to the caverns and makeing a well

It's too late for that dwarf. When spring comes, dig out an underground cistern and fill it with water that won't freeze over winter.

The funniest part being a dwarf actually butchered the stupid thing.  Necrotic poison is the tastiest of spices.
