Human diplomat arrives on the map, instantly dies.
« on: October 05, 2010, 09:15:45 pm »

...wut?

The human diplomat Xidel Ekoapsong arrived, and instantly fell over, dead.  No combat report, no goblins present.  I actually went 'WHUT' so hard the first time that I reloaded the save and it happened AGAIN.

Has anyone else experienced mayors that die instantly on a map with no apparent heat issues?

He caught a whiff of your unwashed dwarves and keeled over...

...or more likely died of old age.

I'm guessing that the "body disappearance" magic trick proved fatal.
Maybe he should stick to safer stuff.

Like that spell that makes you impossible to kill.

Either died of old age, or suffered fatal injuries in world gen but didn't bother to die till he hit your map.  Either way, you'll be blamed.  Prepare for a siege.

Same thing happened to me; human showed up on the map and dropped dead. They sieged the following year.

Happened to me once.  The irritating part was that his replacement showed up immediately, but the humans still attacked me because he died on-site.

Do you always look at it in ASCII?

You get used to it, I don't even see the ASCII.  All I see is blacksmith, miner, goblin.

Well...  I suppose the good news is since their diplomat died instantly, they'll just wander into my traps and die.

Except that humans are pansies and wont politely walk into your halls of death. They send raiding parties. They'll sit on horses outside, harass merchants and run away if you send your military after them.  ::)

It's a set up. They send their oldest, most physically unstable leper dressed as a diplomat, then blame you for that person's dead, then siege you while still looking morally superiour.

Pansy bastards. At least elves don't try to hide the fact they're stuck-up, tree-humping hippies.
