My guess is it's either luck, or, more likely, the crazy-happy ecstaticness of sleeping in such an awesome room is making them randy.

Yeah, if anything, I'd be suspecting that happiness is correlating to breeding.

In my experience, putting a lady-dwarf in the military is a sure fire way to set her up as a baby making machine. One of my earliest military commanders had seven kids. I think the entire ten dwarf squad had about fifteen kids trailing behind them. :)

For a interesting experiment, when you have the resources to furnish bedrooms, assign them to the male dwarfs. Watch how many marriages show up, in the next two seasons.

Should you fail to comply, strict !!disciplinary actions!! will be taken. Also, we feel we should remind you that one of the "criminals" on your list is the chief medical dwarf. If he ends up too badly injured to do his job, you will be fired. Out of a magma cannon.
Sincerely,
The Administration

Romeofalling withdraws from society!

He is muttering about aluminum doors, and gold furniture. He is sketching pictures of waterfalls.

I got the impression that dwarven wives become baby factories, pumping out a new infant annually.

For selective breeding, create a Kissing Booth. It would be a one-tile meeting room that isn't in the main burrow, but in it's own burrow. Then assign all to-be-married dwarves to also have the Kissing Booth burrow. Then they go and make out until they pair off.
