Yeah, mine just happened.  I got the message "Some migrants have arrived!" and refreshed my Dwarf Therapist to find that 25 migrants suddenly showed up.  Hope you guys don't mind sleeping on the floor for a little bit.  My fort population prior to today?  18.  Maybe some bad shit's going down at the mountain homes, lots of fun.

Just got my largest a few hours ago; 23 of those freeloaders showed up.  I wanted to let them starve at the gates but there was a high-master armorsmith with them and I'd just found cotton candy.  :/

I think I've gotten a wave of 30 immigrants before. Not sure what the maximum is, can't be more than 50 at once.

I think the maximum is 30, not counting livestock (and maybe not counting children also).

I don't think I've gotten more than 24 at a time.  I did, however, get that two season in a row and ended up at just over 70 dwarves ... then almost immediately got rolled by the first goblin ambush of my DF playing career.

And they do so little!  So much time optimizing their tasks and they just idle and party!  And within days one of the kids went into a fey mood!  At least I don't need that workshop... *walls it off*

Partying dwarfs tend to give overseers massive bad thoughts, though.

In the latest version, it seems to stall out around 25 or so. In 40d, I'm pretty sure that I got a wave of 36 once, but that had a lot to do with cooking exploits. That dwarven milk roast that was worth something like 75,000 dwarfbucks brought a lot of attention to my little fort.

My largest wave is 25, but I don't really mind as most of my migrants come with actually useful skills. I have always use for stone- and woodworkers. Cooks/brewers/butchers are also nice to have. Furnace operators/smiths are very much welcome. And miners and mechanics of course.

That only leaves the ones with farming skills like soap making and shit like that. Which I promply conscript into my army. Problem solved. It's the nigh-useless babies and party-dude children that give me headaches.
