I've noticed that workshops of most types don't handle stacks of items correctly.  Nor do strange moods for that matter.  This is most common with bone crafts, where a dwarf will take a stack of bone and make a single item out of it, but I also observed them taking a whole barrel of 20 lye from the merchants and producing... a single bar of potash!  They then repeated the performance with a second barrel containing 10 lye.  Again, only a single potash was produced.  They should either only take 1 item from the stack at a time, or make as many items as there were components in the stack.

strange, I know that bolts from bones produce the correct amount of bolts.
