Lever bug?
« on: August 06, 2008, 07:47:47 am »

This is a very minor bug, if it's a bug at all. When linking a lever to a bridge, I always test it first. This time, since the dwarves are always so quick to pull the lever, I went ahead and gave TWO orders to pull it. I figured I'd just watch the bridge and confirm that it opened and closed.

But the bridge opened and stayed open (though the lever ended up in the 'closed' position). I gave it plenty of time, then ordered another lever pull. Again, nothing happened (probably because the lever was now in the 'open' position, and the bridge was already open).

Another pull of the lever put everything right again. Apparently, we can't stack this particular command. No big deal, but I thought I'd mention it.

PS. I'm using the latest version (39e).

Great game!

there is a big delay for a floodgate to open/close or drawbridge to raise/lower when you pull a lever
doors and traps are instant

Double-pulls have resulted in problems (sometimes hilarity) since the 2D version.

I've never been sure if this is a bug or an intentional feature, but it sure is weird.

ITs because of the time delay.  What would be an intresting experiment is to have a door and a bridge attached to the same lever to see if it still runs the door while the bridge resets.

Oh, it does.

I've been having a bit of a fit hooking up levers. Last fortress I did (don't have a save anymore because I wanted to redo it for numerous reasons) I kept trying to hook up levers only to discover after they were hooked up, they mysteriously became unhooked. And in fact other levers next to the one I was working on gained the hookups.
