Quotes from posts in the Future of fortress thread. Immediately after I read these posts, I hoped Toady wouldn't start spending his precious time on fiddling with recorder when there is a way to do video tutorials with current recorder.
There are free programs like Fraps and Gamecam lite, which I prefer, that can record any game. Actually with these programs you wouldn't even need the recorder, but it's better for FPS to first record you gameplay with DF's recorder and then to record that with either one of these. After recording these files can easily be edited even with Windows moviemaker. It's more than enough for DF's needs.
Some of you might already know about this, but just in case somebody doesen't know and would like to make tutorial videos.

Just for the record.. I'm not going to start making any tutorial videos and I think they should only be done for the most complex tricks. Nevertheless good luck for anyone who'd want to do tutorials They could prove to be very useful for noobs.
