I kind of wish random names were less random: That they would relate to things that happened to squad or to its composition or fort history/setting instead of being kind of dadaist.

Simply, when you (r)ename, there should be custom name option and "let dwarves rename it" option.

"Blades of Urists Victory" (sworddwarves squad named after certain Urist from legends) for example.
