The Terraria megaprojects and map building thread

I've seen a lot of megaprojects and interesting maps in the main terraria thread, so I made a seperate thread for them.

I'm currently working on two maps,

CROSSFIRE, a large 4-way PVP map

and

TERRATROID, a remaking of the original metroid inside of Terraria.

what are you guys working on?

PROSPIT, SKAIA, and DERSE from Homestuck. It's currently on hold, but still.

As you might discover on this overview over Kael's server you can see a big hole. That have already been pretty much cleared away now and the resulting space is where I will create a (or maybe 3*3 types of) dungeon, a floating island underground and maybe a signature to say that I was there. Why, because it's a big project and useless, just the way a dwarf likes it.

I really want that one as a "when". I want "grubs", and "virgin woman" to turn into a dragon. and monkey children to suddenly sprout wings. And I want the Dwarven Mutant Academy to only gain their powers upon reaching puberty. I also have a whole host of odd creatures that only make sense if I divide them into children and adults.

Also, tadpoles.

If you know some trick to avoid screenshot stich and crop I'd be happy.  :D

Also, that map is slightly outdated. It's missing Prospit and Skaia.

Yeah, the map was last updated 9th. Had it been updated you would've seen a much larger hole too. But because the update came unexpectedly and Kael has no means to update tShock until 16th there has been no updates or progress.

slight problem-


What should I use for the hot parts of Norfair? I was thinking hellstone, but meteorite would spawn some crazy enemies...

Also, what for the varia suit? should it be hellstone armor? or is that too overpowered?

Power suit is copper armor....

What should basic power beam be? magic missle?

What would the wave beam be? we need one that can go through walls, also, I was thinking water bolt for the ice beam, buuuut....

Also, how should I work elevators? Just long shafts with platforms inside?

I know what i'll use for kraid and ridley (EoC and EoW, respectively), but what about mother brain? Skeletron? If so, Should I make tourain lead up to the re-done dungeon entrance?

Is it possible to make silver bricks?

Does the EoC drop too much demonite? I was thinking the barrier to tourain would be a wall of obsidian, but then we would need something there...

Maybe we could have the first barricade be a obsidian wall and the second be a hellstone walk?

Should I make Crateria, or just drop players straight into Brinstar?

Do Dungeon bricks spawn dungeon enemies?

How much jungle grass do I need to spawn wasps?

And crossfire...

Hooooo boy, I don't even want to think about crossfire right now.

Based on the actual effects of the Varia suit, yeah, hellstone sounds about right.

Vilethorn can go through walls.

Yes. 1 silver ore + 1 stone at a furnace

It drops around enough for 20 bars or so, but no shadow scales, so yeah.

Maybe we could have the first barricade be a obsidian wall and the second be a hellstone walk?
They might use the obsidian gathered to make a skull, though....

Never played Metroid, so I wouldn't know. I think you SHOULD make it though.

In high enough quantities with background walls, yes.

How much jungle grass do I need to spawn wasps?
Not sure about that one

And crossfire...

ggamer, the area you start in is crateria, right? I never took the time to learn the names, but as a massive fan of the series, go for completeness.

Elevators should be straight shafts of platforms.

Also, I don't think there WAS a hot part of Norfair in Metroid 1, but if there was, make it meteorite. And make the varia suit meteor armor + an obsidian skull.

Power beam should be space gun, missile expansions will be mana stars. Wave is vilethorn. Ice beam should be mm/flamelash since there's nothing that can freeze.

Upper part of Tourain should be corruption, so EoSes spawn and they act close enough to Metroids, and the rest of it is fine as dungeon, although dungeon backgrounds don't work above ground.
