Rotting Dwarves?
« on: September 22, 2010, 06:26:34 pm »

So after a double FB attack one with deadly blood, the other with noxious secretions.  A quarter of my military died via lucky toe and finger grab and rips.  Now i have a quarter of my military in the hospital with various wounds, the problem being that they are rotten and not infected.  This then spreads miasma which is a problem for the walking wounded going around making everyone sad.  Is there anyway to clean the rot? the doctors dont seem to be doing it.

I think the medical system is supposed to take care of that, but I could be wrong.
You could try re-injuring an infected dwarf, to have him re-diagnosed.

Also, make sure you have soap.

I had some military dwarves with rotten fingers or toes which didn't seem to have an effect on their ability to cut up gobbos. Although they would let off clouds of miasma every once in a while.

Oh well, the dwarf died, and the other rotten one turned into infected and then got cleaned, so i guess it was something random.

I've read about people having their dwarves get that, then some surgery is done on the upper lip and the whole thing goes away. No idea what is going on there, but when i got the rot in my fortress i just set an above ground hospital zone well away from my walls and when the next siege happened by they took care of the problem for me.

I had it from deadly FB blood on one of my dwarves (well, more exactly on 2-3, but only he survived)...
he went to the hospital and the surgeon created a bloody mess,
afterwards he still had some parts of his body where it said "rot"... but it didnīt seem to affect him anymore
and he also stopped creating miasma,
so I would say, that the surgeon more or less healed him
