Sorting to preserve our sanity !

Can lists be sorted alphabetically ? If there is no horrible programming behind the UI this should be a very easy fix.

I have 140 dwarves.
I want to add 'Axedwarf1' Urist mcConan 'Axedwarf' to my axedwarf squad.
This means I have to carefully check all 140 dwarfs in the assignments list to find and assing him.
I find that over 25 % of my time is spend paging trough lists looking for a certain dwarf (was 75 %, thank Amok for Dwarf Therapist)

Same for all other lists.

While we're at it :
A dwarf that is assigned to squad A should NOT be displayed in the list when you are selecting dwarves for squad B.

When adding dwarves to squads, there will be a note near the top of the screen if the select dwarf is already in a squad.

Sorting is a fine idea, but not showing dwarves already in squads seems like a step in the wrong direction. I had to fiddle around with my squad allocations after a migrant wave and a few Military Mothers giving birth, so being able to move a dwarf from one squad to another without having to first remove them and lose them in massive list of names is a good thing I feel. And yeah, as Smariot said, it tells you if a dwarf is in a squad already, so no need to select them if you don't want to.

Yes please make one master class to handle all listing UI functions. Then let us sort on fields. Sometimes I feel like I'm not playing but fighting with the UI code to do something that should be simple. In a game this complex, not everyone is going to take the simplest usecase to accomplish that task.

But I'm just hammering a dead elf here, eternal suggestions has something that covers this.
