All kind of weird in .13
« on: September 18, 2010, 11:23:57 pm »

I grabbed the Mac build and moved over a fort.  It's all kind of weird.  My dwarves won't move stuff from stockpile to stockpile.  For example, I have a stockpile set to "armor."  I delete it and make two new ones, one for "Steel" armor, one for everything else.  The dwarves let it all sit there.  .12 they hop up and move everything.

I also got a legendary macedwarf and legendary sworddwarf in my one set of migrants.  I put them into new squads (didn't have sword or mace already) but they won't do anything.  I have them assigned to train, scheduled, given barracks, etc, like my other squads, who are training just fine.  New guys, nothin.  They grab gear and stand around idle.

So I'm wondering if this is .13 being weird, moving a fort from .12 to .13 being weird, .13 on mac being weird, a combination, my deranged imagination where I'm really in a padded room rocking back and forth imagining everything, or go back to .12.

Has anyone taken any significantly built out forts from .12 to .13 and not had it subtly or not so subtly wonky?

I don't understand, though that is about right with anything DF related.

I loaded up my latest fort from .12 on .13 (in Windows) and didn't see anything unusual happening, but I only ran it for a season or so. Maybe I missed something, or maybe you're experiencing a freak glitch, or maybe it's a Mac problem. Whatever the cause I'd suggest the same solution: go back to .12. The bed fix isn't worth all the problems in the new version.

Yeah I spent a little more than a season on .13 with this fort and the above things drove me back to .12.  For the life of me I couldn't get my dwarves to move stuff.  I had 8 empty stockpiles, 200 bins full of stuff sitting on undesignated tiles and 40 idle dwarves.  Same renovation plans are moving along smoothly in .12.   *shrug*
