FPS
« on: September 17, 2010, 10:27:12 pm »

Toady said he tried to streamline it a bit, and I think it worked. I've got a fort at about the same spot as I did with my last fort. 150 dwarves, haven't atom smashed anything, 25 FPS in .13

Same thing resulted in 15 FPS in .12. The only real difference between the 2 is I have a brook in the .13 version.

Is anyone else seeing a difference?

EDIT: On a completely unrelated but also humorous note, My civ, The Ignited Bust, gave rise to a group known as The Decent Rack, which went on to found the most successful of the Mountain Halls

Wow. The random name generator knows how to make funny and awesome happen.

I should probably figure out how to turn on my FPS display to make comparisons. My still newish laptop has been handling pretty well, so I don't think I'd notice much difference otherwise.

You show FPS by editing init.txt and looking for
[FPS:NO]  (change to YES)

40 dwarfs right now, 3x3 embark with a 6-zlevel cliff, waterfall over said cliff, and joins into a 30-wide river. 100 FPS, with temperature ON. This would push me to about 60fps before.

Urist McImmigrant: "What? Yearly goblin sieges, animal attacks, and beasts fell and forgotten? Are you CRAZY?! What's it called, and who leads it? ... The Ignited Bust, and The Decent Rack? Hell yeah, let's go!"

The use of "Ignited Bust" compels me to mention !!SANKIS!!

And does no one think fire and a decent rack could also imply dwarven torture chambers? And you thought traction benches were only for hospitals.

And then, they will be weaponized. Like everything in this game, from kittens to babies, everything is a potential device of murder.
So if baseless speculation is all we have, we might as well treat it like fact.

On the subject of coincidental names, I had this gem:  http://i.imgur.com/y9UVa.png

Also, regarding FPS, is there a utility or DF hack addon that allows me to mass-exterminate stone or other items? It would be super useful.
