It's not exactly "playable" that way, though. Flintlocke pistols firing like revolvers with an infinite magazine. :|

How about HellMOO? At worst he'll never look at you the same way again.

Arcanum's realtime mode was force-added by their publisher and is basically non-functional; ranged weapons fire like machineguns and absolutely decimate everything with impunity.


Also, I probably wouldn't suggest text based games to an MMO/fancy-graphics-RPG player. They tend not to be very compatible. But you can try it I guess..

It's not really rpg but since he likes Fallout 3 so much (heresy!) then its great suggestion. I'd add Deus Ex to that, its more rpg but still shooter. Though only if he isn't sucker for graphics, its like 10 years old now.

Oh wait here is great pick: Mass Effect 1&2.

Might enjoy Mount and Blade Warband. Also the Gothic series, although I've only played a little bit of 2 a while back, and The Witcher (which I haven't played, but my impression from hearsay is that it's in the same boat)
