Blood, argh....
« on: September 12, 2010, 04:04:15 am »

Guys, how do you deal with blood being spreaded everyfuckingwhere?

It's not that I mind it for aesthetic reasons, but my farms look like this right now and it starts to be bothersome: (please don't worry about a little flood, was testing out how water spreads from each pump)

DfHack has a tool which removes all snow, vomit, blood, etc., but leaves mud alone.

I don't see anything wrong with that. Blood makes an excellent fertilizer. My orchids LOVE their blood-based fertilizer, why should your rock nuts be deprived of some delicious life-ichor?

it is much better when the blood is toxic so you can sell some poisoned plump helmets to the tree hugging bastards.

Soldier: And THIS *points to a blood stain* is when a goblin swordmaster stabbed me in the eye, and THIS *points to another blood stain on the floor* is when I smashed his brains in with my mace, look, it still has the grey matter on it even!

Put a small pool of water at the entrance to your meeting area, and all dwarves and animals will be rinsed clean when they walk through it.  You can also do the same next to your soap stockpile in order to avoid an endless stream of "cancelled clean self" messages.

Why would you clean a dwarf? The blood soaked clothes is like a badge of honor.

Rinsing them off still isn't enough to keep blood contained.

Doesn't work. While it will clean dwarves and animals it does not stop the spread of blood.

This, combined with dfcleanmap, at least keeps blood to a minimum.

Multiplying contaminants are a known bug.
And probably one reason for FPS loss too.

Engraved on the monitor is an exceptionally designed image of FPS in Dwarf Fortress and it's multicore support by Toady. Toady is raising the multicore. The artwork relates to the masterful multicore support by Toady for the Dwarf Fortress in midwinter of 2010. Toady is surrounded by dwarves. The dwarves are rejoicing.
