^ World map: 8th row on the left edge of the map. Region map: Position the cursor on the red caret. It's somewhere on the left in the local screen. Don't quite remember where.

Even if you have dwarves decked out in cotton candy they will still have fun with clowns.

My current fortress is a mountain on the northwest shore of a lake with a bit of a brook and a hill to the southwest.  The lake eroded the mountain into a sheer 7z or 8z drop.  It's perfect for a project I've been wanting to do carving a gigantic palatial fortress purely above ground level from a mountain (this one's 18 Z high from peak to valley floor).  If my PC can handle it, I can easily house hundreds of dwarves once it's carved out... though they'll be churning out stone crafts for generations to clear our all that stone.

Does anyone have the seed for an embark that has a seaside volcano? basically i want surface magma next to a deep ocean for an attempt at undersea fort construction.

Have you checked the worldgen cookbook thread? I know I posted a seaside volcanoe awhile back in it. Here I'll even link you.

So we got monsters above, monsters below, dwarves in the middle and a party in the dining hall. Sounds good to me.
If all else fails, remember one thing:  kittens are delicious, nutritious little goblin-baiters, cavern explorers, and ambush-finders.

The fort I've been playing was mostly +0/+1z savage wilds plain, with a few mirthful mountain peaks, some terrifying conifer forest, and mirthful shrublands.  Sand, limestone, gabbro, granite; no brook, but the pools refill.  :\  Nothing really special, but I liked it, until the !)@#(& save crash that took out the last two seasons of progress.

Then...  It's more of a history than an actual embark, but I just generated... this:

My favorite strange embark was the result of crazy word designer experimenting.

Glumprong and Featherwood.
Dense flat forest, Hot biome.  A small, avoidable aquifer.

And then giant Freezing mountain peeks, and a Volcano.

I posted it here, with screenshots and world gen:

Plenty of neighbors for sieges, and nearby caves for monster fun.

By using a larger embark, stretching further north, there is a HFS temple, too.
Only thing it lacks is a river.

I just found a nice little site in the new version, sand, no surface vegetation, flux, iron, coal, and a stream with exactly five things in it: Two pike (female), a longnose gar (female), and a breeding pair of alligators.

i got a good site, red sand covers half of it, and grass covers the other half, it it perfectly flat, there is a river and trees/shrubs on the grassy side (but the river freezes in winter), with flux and iron (only one vein so far, but I know its in there, somewhere).
