Wood blocks
« on: September 13, 2010, 03:23:22 pm »

I'd like to suggest that "wood blocks" get a name change to "wood planks"

So instead of a "Glumprong Block floor" you could have a "Glumprong plank floor" and likewise for "Cedar Block wall" vs. "Cedar plank wall".

Or failing that, a way to make it so such changes are editable within the RAWs.

Thanks for your time!

I dont think we to make it raw editable. I dont see any reason why this just shouldn't be a change. I cant see any reason why not to change it.

Well wood blocks do exist so it's really how you imagen wood to look like.
But it makes more then enough sense so it should be changed.

It sounds good, except that a wooden plank seems more like an analog of a rock slab rather than a rock block.

And I fail to see why that's a problem. To me, rock blocks are more akin to bricks and pavers than as slabs. And even if they are meant to be slabs, then this changes nothing about their use. Wooden planks do sound more realistic than blocks, however.

I agree with Neek.

What are blocks, really, in terms of gameplay? They're a processed raw material that becomes more valuable but useable only in constructions and buildings. To me, that's the difference between a log cabin (x logs) and a wooden house (x planks or boards)

Actually, boards might be better than planks.

And using the same logic, glass "blocks" could become panes.
