Making Ironhand and Civ Forge Graphic work nicely together
« on: September 09, 2010, 11:48:02 am »

So, I'm a complete and utter noob. How do I make these two play together? I simply installed Civ Forge and it's graphic set over Ironhand and that led to some rather hilarious things...not. Weaponstands instead of trees anyone?

How do I do this properly? ANd can it be done?

I thought Civilization Forge already had my graphics built in...

Oh, wait. That's Genesis.

...
Yeah, that's more work than you want to do.
Maybe get Deon to do it for you. = P

Haha! One can hope! Someone apparently did it for 31.06 and Civforge 2.1 http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=2518. Too bad that is a bit...outdated.

You may want to as drayath for help. I know he's gotten it to work with the Phoebus graphics pack.

You can try downloading the pack he did for the experimental CF 2.3 linked here. You might be able to figure out what he did there.

In fact, I'd be content with just Civ and Ironhand working together, I don't really NEED Civ graphics. But I'd really like for Ironhand to not get upset :D

Hi,
You will need to do something like the following.

Install df+civforge
Extract the ironhand pack to a new folder

copy the entire ironhand/art folder and ironhand/init and raw/graphics folders into the df+civforge folder (overwrite any files).
- This will give all the basic tile graphics (vanilla creatures/dwarfs/items)

You will be missing the graphics for plants & rocks, to do these is a bit of manual work. Download winmerge.
For each raw/data/inorganic_ file in the ironhand folder, copy the     [DISPLAY_COLOR:XXX] & [TILE:XXX] tags into the civforge file for each item.
For each raw/data/plant_ file in the ironhand folder, copy the         [PICKED_TILE:XXX] & [PICKED_COLOR:XXX] &     [TREE_TILE:23] & [TREE_COLOR:XXX] & [PICKED_COLOR:XXX & [DEAD_TREE_COLOR:XXX] tags into the civforge file for each item.

New civforge plants, rocks and minerals will not have ironhand graphics. If you want to add these you have have to either change each item to use tags that point to ironhand items (e.g. copy a vanilla tree tags into a civforge tree etc) or do proper work to create new plant/tree graphics.

All new creatures and primitive races will be using ascii instead of graphics, either live with it, create your own, or copy some of the raw/graphics/ files for the me pack mentioned above.

Get it now :). It's Drayath's creature compilation and Ironhand's tileset and CivForge 2.23 (with edits by me to support the graphics).

I like how if you need something modding-related done, you assume Deon can help. There has to be something he doesn't know how to do.

No, mod everything that comes to mind until he gets confused!

Actually I am quite short on time right now, so I can't release a fixed version of Wasteland and update Genesis faster.
