I currently have a rather large fort going and, as usually happens a few years in, all my dwarves are wearing ratty old clothes underneath their new ones.

So I went through the stock menu and designated every item marked with "x" and "X" as dump (several hundred). I have a working garbage dump and have used it extensively for dealing with stone clutter. However, not a single item designated via the stocks screen was ever dumped.

Are the designated items owned by dwarves?  My understanding is that they will not dump owned items.  And sadly, all those XX clothes are owned.
