Um guys? The trap IS safe. Dorfs won't go on it because of restricted tiles, pets can't go on it because of the tightly closed doors, and caravans can't go through doors.

Everyone is so swift to forget the lignite bin trick.
I forget, what makes it superior to burning grates? That you can fling it in random directions with bridges?
Well, you could throw an unconstructed grate around with a bridge too.
The only distinguishing feature of putting a burning object inside a bin is that the bin protects the object from ever being touched and extinguished by water. This may or may not be an advantage depending on the particular application.

Using lignite roads is the best, because if really needed, you can dump water on it to douse it.

So let me get this straight... if I had a lignite grate that had magma above it, attached to a lignite road that was the basis of an airlock system... could I drop some magma through the grate, setting that on fire, setting the road on fire, which turns whatever is on it into a legendary =goblin invader roast=?

I'm still wondering if I can pull a lever to toggle my burning lignite grate on and off.

Wait
Would a lignite hatch cover work too, but only produce smoke and set stuff on fire while it was open and you linked it to a hatch cover?
