Minor pigmentation mutantions: bug or feature?
« on: September 02, 2010, 05:47:08 pm »

I've got me a nice fortress in some mirthful woods, and have been making a nice industry converting unicorns into delicious, sunshine-soaked pies and trinkets to sell to human merchants.  But while randomly examining the unicorns, I noticed something strange: they are all described as having amber skin, hair, and eyes.  This was not what I remembered, so I checked the raws for the save.  (My game is presently completely unmodded, BTW.)  According to the raws in the save file, unicorns should have white hair, white skin, and gold eyes; clearly I had some grade-A certified mutant unicorns.  Has anyone else seen something like this?

It could be that they have a variety of colors naturally, but near the beginning of this sect of unicorn, the non amber ones died.

No, unicorns are supposed to be white. Quoth the raws:

      [TL_COLOR_MODIFIER:WHITE:1]
         [TLCM_NOUN:hair:SINGULAR]
   [SET_TL_GROUP:BY_CATEGORY:ALL:SKIN]
      [TL_COLOR_MODIFIER:WHITE:1]
         [TLCM_NOUN:skin:SINGULAR]
   [SET_TL_GROUP:BY_CATEGORY:EYE:EYE]
      [TL_COLOR_MODIFIER:IRIS_EYE_GOLD:1]
         [TLCM_NOUN:eyes:PLURAL]

It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

You know, I also encountered this. I found three that were violet, pink, and light green.

I've been having this problem. Many creatures I've modded into the game and vanilla ones have had all of their colors listed as amber, even when it's not a viable choice. I'm guessing it is a bug.

amber is probably the first on the "color" list.

Yep, that is indeed the case.

Huh.  That's a bit odder.

I can second the Amber Unicorn observations.  Just kinda figured they were special unicorns and never thought anything more of it.  Probably a bug, though.
