Murderous doctordwarf
« on: August 31, 2010, 06:30:03 pm »

I'm curious whether the following was premeditated murder or fellaneous neglect....

I've a standard fortress with the default McHouse and several Mr.Miner, one of them developed a grudge with the doctor, then proceeded to fall down a mining shaft.
At first Mr.Miner refused to go to the hospital and would rather faint from agony while mining with two broken legs.
Finally I tricked him into resting his bones in the hospital by deconstructing all other beds in the fledgling fort.
wounds were cleaned and dressed (by Urist PhD) but the patient managed to escape and was soon found again unconcious at the mineface.
The grudge between these two and the fate of Mr.Miner was beginning to worry me, but then McDoctor took to the scalpel and started cutting open knees and setting bones.
Things seemed peachy. The patient was being watered, fed and restrained to the bed (burrow)

I look away for a few minutes* to watch House or sonething and when I look back Mr.miner is in the graveyard.

Probably the patient just died of neglect, but I can't rule out foul play.
The Sheriff seems to rule it accidental, but she also had a grudge against Mr.Miner....

That kind of depth is not implemented yet, but it's most certainly on The List.

We can certainly pretend, though.  :D

We now need CSI dwarves to investigate this possible murder. Ready the puns and sunglasses!

CSI dwarves will just bring up the message log and shout ENHANCE until the scrollback buffer enlarges so you can see the death details.

In the dwarven justice system, certain crimes are considered more heinous than some, in such cases the hammerer is brought in. ...This is not one of those cases. <cadunk-dunk>

If Mister Miner was a real dwarf he would have replaced his kneecaps with copper nuggets and cat leather and walked off his injuries. Obviously he was an elven infiltrator wearing a live cat for a beard. The doctor no doubt caught on to the ruse and did his patriotic duty by repeatedly shanking said elf in the kidneys with his scalpel.
