Cannot make quivers at Clothesmaker's Shop
« on: November 17, 2006, 05:01:00 am »

I just noticed one of my immigrants is carrying a silk quiver.  However, you can't make them at the Clothesmaker's Shop.

Might be interesting to be able to make cloth backpacks as well.

Would something like a cloth quiver work?  I have no idea, since I haven't put pointy metal objects into many things before.

I can imagine it working, especially if it used another piece of cloth to reinforce the bottom.  But I like the idea of it being a leather only item.

Yes, quivers and the like can be made out of the sturdier breeds of cloth. Silk might not work too well, but stuff like canvas, sailcloth, or even treated linen or wool would work.

Wikipedia: "Traditional quivers used in medieval times were made of leather and canvas."

On a related subject, how about metal waterskins (canteens)?

Nah, too heavy, the dwarves would just take forever trying to fill it.  You need a plastic canteen with a gas release for filling.  Makes filling quick and easy, and the plastic is lightweight.  Better yet, camelbaks.

There are already flasks, which are essentially metal canteens.

They just don't work yet  :(
