Warnings

I don't know if it has already proposed, I searched it and found nothing relevant, so here is my suggestion:

I think it would be a good idea to warn the player when a dwarf is dehydrated or starving, I lost many dwarves because I didn't know they were locked somewhere and couldn't eat/drink. Of course I know it's part of the fun, but that's a pretty stupid death for a dwarf. "This is the tomb of Urist McMiner, who died of dehydratation because he removed the stairs from the z-level below and trapped himself." After all, we are always spammed with cancellation jobs warnings, why not be spammed with starving/dehydratation warnings?

Trapped dwarfs often go into tantrums or melochony.

I'd like more direct control over what is a spammable message that pops up.  Some init option or some in-game menu to let you select what spams you.  I really don't need any kind of notification that I struck anything - I'll see it for my own self if/when I care when I look for myself.

Ehh, i actually think there are options for that, though i haven't checked too much into it.

If you regularly check the health screen Thirsty & Hungry show up as do Starving etc.  So it's there, you just have to use the screen.

I think it might be a little clumsy using the health screen all the time (though you probably get used to spamming the keys, as always in DF). A convenient way would to have a yellow S light up at the top of the screen (somewhere next to the FPS meter) if you have any starving dwarves, and a blue D for any dehydrated dwarves.

Or something like that.

Ah, right, there is in the Announcement.txt with the new Baughn stuff that got put in.  I forgot to mess with that in this version.

In the stuff Toady did, there was an option for what "level" of spam you get, but it is hardcoded what messages fall into what levels, which means that you have no direct control.

Anyway, that makes this a bit easier, then, I suppose, as it just means that you need to add in "dwarf is starving" as a condition in the announcements.txt init, doesn't it?  Maybe you should message Baughn about this one?
