Bug fix - Bridging empty channels
« on: September 19, 2007, 06:28:00 am »

Not a bug, but a method I discovered building my last fort that allows you to bridge channels without filling them with water first. I posted this on another forum, but don't think its on the wiki yet:

All you need to do is create the channel you want to fill with magma or whatever, then place another 1x1 channel next to the one you just dug but cancel it right away after a miner "chooses" it and begins to move towards digging it (you see the channel go from a blinking _____ to a -_-_- pattern before building is started).

Doing this removes the channel item from the main channel you have dug and allows you to bridge over it freely.

It was news to me, so I added it to the wiki.  Thanks for tip!  I hate filling the damn things just so I can empty them to build a bridge, then fill them back up once the bridge has been designed and constructed.

It'll all be moot once the next version's out, I suppose, but I'll sure make use of it in the mean time.
