Mini-Fort Fortress "Granite Tooth" Log.
« on: August 29, 2010, 04:27:28 pm »

Hey Guys,

When building my new Fortress I made a small "mini Fortress" defending a fishing area, which had a garrison of 6 dwarfs who couldn't leave, but have a well & food & beds etc. Just a normal game, not succession or anything.

I started, out of Boredom, to write a Log for it. So here it is up to the date 7th Hematite 204 from when the mini-fort was made,
will Update as the Log is updated:
Fort Garrison:
First Squad "The Inky Days":
Marksdwarf Urvad Obokkidet (Squad Leader)
Recruit Dodok Rilemlolor
Marksdwarf Tirist Alathsolam

Second Squad "The Doors Of Lashing":
Marksdwarf Cog Mosuserith (Squad Leader)
Marksdwarf Vabok Irtirsigun
Recruit Lor Udilagsal.

Fortress Log:
27th Obsidian 203:
Garrison takes up residence in the "Granite Tooth". We have large supplies of food, ammunition, and our own water source.

22nd Granite 204:
A Goblin Snatcher attacked the main fort, this is the first Goblin activity from the Goblin Fortress just ten miles to the South of Cloistered Wood. [The Main Fortress, and the Goblin Fortress is 5 squares on the region map away, not visible on the local map.] He was killed by the Marksdwarfs There.

27th Granite 204:
There was a Small Goblin Raid on Cloistered Wood. We mobilised immediately, but were not needed. Marksdwarf Kib Vodiden, from the main garrison, was KIA, leaving a grieving Husband, and two Daughters, one of whom is still a child. One donkey was also killed. Five Goblins were slain by the garrison.

3rd Slate 204:
Another Goblin Snatcher attacked the main fort, it was killed, doing no dammage.

7th Slate 204:
Yet Another Goblin Snatcher, again killed by the main Garrison before it could infiltrate the Fortress.

23rd Slate 204:
Once again a small Goblin Raid attacked the Main Fortress, this time from the south. They were caught by us, and we opened fire, killing 3 and wounding another. The rest Fled. One Dwarf, Atis Zaslaltur, the lye maker, was killed at the beginning of the raid, as she gathered wood.

26th Slate 204:
Some Migrants Arrived, expecting replacements for those who were lost during the great famine of '03.

20th Feslite 204:
Recruit Lor Udigagsal added to the Garrison, into the 2nd Squad. More replacements bring the main fort's garrison to full strength.

7th Hematite 204:
A Small Goblin Force of at least 14 Goblins assaulted the main fortress from the north west. We Sent the Squad "The Doors Of Lashing" to aid the defence. The assault was defeated, leaving 8 Goblins dead and 2 severly wounded. There were No Dwarf Casualties.

Special mention must be given to Recruit (now Marksdwarf) Vabok Irtirsigun. After leaving the walls to answer the call of nature, Vabok found himself confronted by the entire Goblin force. He opened fire, slaying one with his first shot. Then, while squad leader Marksdwarf Cog Masuserith lead a rescue party, Vabok bravely killed two more Goblins, and seriously wounded another. His promotion is well deserved.

22nd Hematite 204:
A kobold thief was discovered and driven off to the north, by the main garrison. Another Kobold Thief was discovered, and driven off the the south.

23rd Hematite 204:
Another Kobold Thief was discovered, and this one killed, by the main garrison. That should deter the scum from thieving our hard earned food and goods!

27th Hematite 204:
A Cat has found it's way into the Fort. We've adopted it, calling it "Stakos". I hope it doesn't eat all the food.

28th Hematite 204:
Some Migrants arrive. I do hope things stop happening, my pen is beginning to run out of ink.

3rd Limestone 204:
A catapult has been built ontop of the tomb in the main fortress, this should give us an even greater edge if the Goblins attack from that way again. Hopefully we can find another idiot dwarf to man one here!

16th Limestone 204:
A medium-sized Goblin force attacked from the North, 19 Goblins in total. We mobilised immediately, but did not send any troops to help, due to the success of our forces last time. This proved to be folly.

The new catapult was not even fired - the Goblins were assaulting the walls before the operator could get near the device. The Squad on the walls opened fire, managing to take out a trio of goblins before they reached the gate - the rest stormed through. They stormed up the stairways to attack the marksdwarfs on the walls. Shem Kibtathtat, the leader of "The Robustness Of Merchants" was killed. Adil Regom took command of the Squad. Rith Arakast was infuriated at the death of his friend, Shem, and charged the goblin horde, firing his crossbow point blank into the horde. He slew two Goblins before a pikegoblin skewered him. Other squads were in the courtyard, as they rushed to their positions. They fired several volleys of bolts into the Goblins, slaughtering three and wounding two. A Fortress Guard also joined in, wounding another Goblin. The rest of the Goblins could take no more of the dwarfs vengance, and the remaining eight fled, the three wounded crawling after them. They left in their wake eight dead Goblins, two dead dwarfs, and one lightly wounded dwarf of the Fortress Guard. We have learnt never to under-estimate our enemies again. It is a lesson taught with blood.

The once dark-grey walls are now the dark brown of stained blood. At either side of the path leading to the great granite gates is covered with the corpses and skeletons of Goblin invaders.
Some are still fresh. One is still moving.
As you approach the gate a nervous guard looses a bolt in your direction. Silence... Slowly, gradually, the huge doors screech open. Inside there is a courtyard, the floor wet with blood. Welcome to the front-line. Welcome; to Cloisteredwood.
